Who builds Vela.
Vela is made by MONDAY LABS LTD, a small company in the United Kingdom, and built in public: the apps, the backend services and this site are all on GitHub, and the person who wrote them answers issues there.
What we believe
Self-custody, for real
We hold no key and no role on your wallet, so we cannot move, freeze or recover your funds. What we do control is the software you sign with, which is why its code is public.
No seed phrases
A seed phrase is a secret people are asked to guard perfectly for years. We replaced it with passkeys: keys held by your devices or a security key, used after your face, fingerprint or PIN.
Open source
The apps and services are public on GitHub, so you can check what they do instead of taking our word for it.
Honest about trade-offs
Every design choice gives something up. We write down what, and why — in the docs and on the blog — instead of pretending there's no cost.
